Killing of Kapil Majhi  by Maoists on the suspicion of being a police informant in Odisha

On 14 February 2022, a 32-year-old tribal man identified as Kapil Majhi  was killed by the Maoists on the suspicion of being a police informant at Upargumu village in Bhandrangi panchayat under Belgharpolice station in Kandhamal district of Odisha.

On 14 February 2022, a group of armed Maoists reportedly dragged Kapil Majhi out of his house atUpargumu village and killed him by slitting his throat on suspicion of being a police informer. The killing of innocent people by armed opposition groups is a gross human rights violation and the State has the responsibility to protect human rights. IRAC seeks the immediate intervention of the National Human Rights Commission over the incident.
