programs

Our current programs

Currently we are involved in a number of programs that seek to  safeguard and promote indigenous  peoples rights in India.

LEGAL SUPPORT HELPLINE

The Legal Support HELPLINE offers legal advice and support to indigenous peoples and communities on issues of rights violations. Legal support may include legal advice and representations and assistance in filing applications to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and other judicial and quasi judicial forums.

TRACKING RIGHTS VIOLATIONS

We regularly track, monitor and document cases and incidents of rights violations pertaining to indigenous peoples and communities, particularly rights violations against indigenous rights defenders and land rights activists. We make urgent interventions before the appropriate authorities and forums.

urgent interventions

Based on the monitoring of cases and incidents of rights violations, we make urgent alerts and interventions. We regularly send complaint communications to the NHRC and other complaint processes and  follow them up to ensure justice for the victims.

capacity building & fellowship

We facilitate and conduct training programs to strengthen the knowledge and skills of community advocates and human rights defenders with the emphasis on building skills in strategic advocacy actions, and the capacity to engage with governmental processes at the national, regional and international level.

An important aspect of the Capacity Building Program is the setting up of a Fellowship for indigenous law students wherein selected Fellows shall be trained and mentored and then assigned with partner NGOs during the Fellowship period.
