IRAC DEMANDS INVESTIGATION AND STRONG LEGAL ACTION OVER BRUTAL ASSAULT OF TRIBAL WOMAN

On 8 September 2021, Shubham Koite alias Golu, son of Motilal, went to the house of the elderly Adivasi woman to demand money that she had withdrawn out of her pension. When she refused, he started beating her. She said she had no money but Shubham didn’t listen. He hit her repeatedly with an iron rod on her private parts. The woman was injured grievously and she was bleeding. After the incident of heinous attack, her clothes were drenched in blood.

The tragic incident took place in Bhatkheda village under Nepanagar police station in Burhanpur district, Madhya Pradesh.

The video interview of the victim went viral on twitter and is available at https://twitter.com/HansrajMeena/status/1436020219126812672 She was later admitted to a hospital in Burhanpur.

The accused has been terrorizing the locals, he has committed similar acts before in the village. The village has an increasing number of such incidents taking place.  

In view of this, on 10th September 2021 IRAC moved to the State Human Rights Commission (NSRC) demanding an investigation into the matter and arrest of the accused.
