On March 16, 2023, an 18-year-old tribal youth identified as Bherulal in police firing at Dongargaon in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh. The incident happened when a there was a crowd protesting the death of a 22-year-old tribal woman on March 15, 2023 and her family alleged that she was raped and murdered. The protestors mostly belonging to tribal community gheraoed the Dongargaon police station. It is alleged that the youth was killed during the police firing. IRAC has moved the NHRC over the incident and sought a judicial inquiry into the alleged killing of the tribal youth in police firing is a serious human rights violation by the police.
